This story has touched so many.
It’s a happy ending for Ammo! The senior dog was surrendered to Saving Sage Animal Rescue last month after a series of unfortunate events. So many dogs have a story like Ammo’s, but not all of them get a second chance at a family. Thankfully, the 13-year-old pup did get that second chance. And now a sneak peek at his new forever home has people tearing up.
There was a huge outpouring of support when Ammo’s story first went viral. So many people felt for the dog, who was given up due to unfortunate circumstances.
Raising dogs and kids in the same house together can be a blessing. So much love and life! But sadly for Ammo, an accident cost him everything.
“Ammo lived with his family for 13 years,” Dali explained in the text overlay. “Their baby stepped on his tail and he bit the baby. They dumped him at the shelter. He’s so confused and scared.”
The senior dog was then brought to Saving Sage, who then shared his story hoping that someone would understand the complicated situation. And boy did they find people. Millions of people watched the video and thousands wrote in offering to come take the pup. In an update to their video, the shelter explained that they had to sift through so many options. But finally they chose someone and now Ammo will get to “live out his golden years happily.”
“Social media is powerful. We are so grateful!” the shelter added in the caption.
Commenters were practically cheering over the good news. “Shame on his old owners. I’m glad he found people who deserve him,” wrote one person. “I bet you will love him more than he ever was before,” someone else added. “Ammo looks so happy with his new family and sister. He looks proud like he has a purpose,” chimed in a third person. “I will never understand why people dump a dog so quickly for making a mistake. Why do we expect dogs to be better behaved than people?” someone else wondered.
Shelter Dogs Deserve a Second Chance
Lots of dogs end up in shelters who were surrendered for unfair reasons. There’s a misunderstanding about shelter pups, they aren’t broken! Many of these dogs just had a string of bad luck or weren’t in the right home to begin with. But you can be the change. Adopting from a shelter or rescue can give a dog a new lease on life and turn their world right side up. So many of these special creatures deserve it.
